WHAT IS HEART COHERENCE?

It is a state of coherence between the heart and the autonomic nervous system obtained by the practice of a respiratory method. This state helps reduce stress and anxiety, regulate the autonomic nervous system, and thus improve several body functions to maintain health. One of the breathing methods used is rhythmic breathing. This is supported by more than10,000 scientific studies. A 5-minute paced breathing practice has been shown to be equivalent to the physiological effects obtained after 20 minutes of running or meditation. 

 

Rhythmic breathing simply involves taking 6 regular diaphragmatic or abdominal breaths per minute. A respiratory cycle consists of an inhale and an exhale. Each cycle is therefore carried out over a total of 10 seconds in order to obtain 6 cycles per minute. This is the fundamental principle of rhythmic breathing to be observed to achieve the state of cardiac coherence known as resonance. This state of vibration in resonance between the heart and the autonomic nervous system has the potential to bring about real physiological changes. These operate through your autonomic nervous system acting on all the important functions it governs in your body. To obtain the expected results on your physiology, it is essential to followa breathing guide well timed.

 

When the quality of the state of cardiac coherence in resonance is maintained for 3 to 5 minutes, this allows a return to balance between the state of alert and that of regenerative calm. Just 5 minutes of cardiac coherence provides a period of 3 to 4 hours rather in the parasympathetic mode of the autonomic nervous system. This mode replenishes our body's resources to better maintain health. It is the opposite of the sympathetic mode, activated by stress and anxiety, which uses energy resources.
